We’re continuing the slow drip-drop release of tracks from the upcoming EP, The Siege. Next on the agenda: the title track itself, which kicks off the EP with a dark but hopeful groove – a theme that carries through on the rest of the album.
Today, Americana Highways – the publication that released Florence in the Fall’s video back in 2022 – premiered the music video:
Filmed on the site of Roman ruins, the video is beautiful to watch. Inspired by helplessness watching the invasion of Ukraine from half a world away, this song was born of a desire to comfort those in wearying, miserable situations. A gentle darkness sets the pace and “I’ve been under siege for several years, with my back against the wall.” As the song builds, the mood becomes more uplifting, and Georgia Jones’ backing vocals redefine the concept of “soar.” It’s a pretty, hopeful song.
