Today, we’re excited to share the release of the title track from the upcoming EP, The Siege. 

“’The Siege’ was inspired tragically by the invasion of Ukraine by Russia and I wanted to set it in the ancient world. There have been many sieges throughout history and these days I find myself buried in books studying the ancient world. History, sadly, repeats itself so its important to study the history of the world in order to be able to see the writing on the wall and to act accordingly. I put myself in the shoes of a traveling man who finds himself besieged. I’m also interested in the idea that there is divine guidance—that our stars can predict our fate. However, I also agree that there are times in our life during great struggles where to borrow the latin phrase, ‘Fortis Fortuna Adiuvat,’ we must be brave and face the struggle and overcome it. This was the central theme and chorus I was trying to pass along to all people who find themselves in sieges — whether they are physical or mental — thrown upon us, or created by our own decisions. Do not sit back and be idle, but continue to move forward on your path and towards your destiny.”

Yesterday, Americana Highways premiered the video which was filmed in 2023 at the anicent Roman port of Ostia Antica. We first learned of the site from Rick Steves’ during the COVID lockdown and we knew that this would be the perfect visual setting for “The Siege.” The site is mindblowing and we highly recommend you adding it to the list of places to visit on your next trip to Rome!
