Roma featured on NY Times 'The Morning' Spring Playlist 2023

It’s been a very busy, very exciting spring and we’ve had a lot of great press lately – much of which we still need to post and share. But today’s news was so exciting we had to share it IMMEDIATELY:

“Roma,” one of the singles from the recently released Love Italy EP, was just included in the New York Times’ “The Morning Spring 2023 Playlist” on Spotify!

NY Times 'The Morning' Spring Playlist 2023 on Spotify“The Morning” is the New York Times’ daily email newsletter, and in early April there was an issue that discussed – with much nostalgia – the loss of personal “mixtapes” in the age of digital streaming, offering personalized playlists as an “alternative to the algorithm” from music critics who understand “the paralysis of too many options.”

At the end of the article, there was a call for song submissions to their spring playlist that would only include joyful music in “a human-curated, algorithm-free soundtrack to the new season.” So, we sent in our groovy track, Roma and we were super psyched to learn that the curators at the Times enjoyed the song enough to include it amongst the likes of many incredible artists, including The Rolling Stones, Tom Petty, Coldplay, and so many more.

The email announcing the playlist said:

The playlist, a collaborative effort by readers of The Morning, is a big sprawling thing. It has more than 1,000 songs that have been bringing readers joy lately, more than 1,000 tracks that are “that song” for someone — the one they put on when they want to feel up, to feel better, to set the stage for a good day or to turn their mood around.

The mix is multifarious, unpredictable, full of old favorites and new stuff you might love or might skip. Jimi Hendrix. Harry Styles. Bob Seger. De La Soul. The National. The Little River Band. Wet Leg. More than one Chumbawamba song. We weren’t able to include every song submitted, but at over 24 hours, the playlist is more than long enough to provide a soundtrack for your entire spring.

As of today, the playlist already has over 32K saves, which is no small thing. So check it out, put it on shuffle, and let “Roma” and all the other feel-good tunes shine a little light on your day. 🙂

P.S. If you’re looking for Roma, we’re #1,211 which you can find easier if you play Spotify through your computer or a larger screen.
